What Is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant cannabinoids found in the cannabis and hemp plant. When you think of hemp, you might recall a sturdy bagor cool pair of shoes you once had. Those items most likely came from the stems, or remains of the hempplant. CBD on the other hand comes from the plant’s flower and leaves.
Although CBD has gained tremendous traction over the last couple of years, it’s actually been traditionally used by different cultures for centuries. Only as of late, CBD has been picked up mainstream popularity and is being tried by the masses. This surge in popularity and increased demand, is making CBD more acceptable and even more available. (YAY!) Happy people are ditching their old methods of alleviating pain, anxiety, insomnia and a whole host of other ailments for a cleaner alternative.

How Does CBD Work?
So what really goes on in the body to make CBD so successful? The benefits of these plant-derived cannabinoids wouldn’t be possible without the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a naturally occuring system in our bodies, that is responsible for maintaining homeostasis and breaking down or absorbing cannabinoids.
This is where CBD comes in.While some compounds can only affect a few number of cannabinoid receptors in the ECS system, CBD’s unique molecular structure, allows it to interact with several ECS receptor systems in the body. This “multitasking” is how CBD stands out, and can target inflammation, pain, anxiety, and so much more. Pretty cool right? Another plus, is that the major ECS receptor in the brain, CB1, is activated by THC but not CBD. Meaning CBD is non-psychoactive, and still provides all it’s natural relieving properties.
